What works offline, and what needs a connection?

You can create ordinary feeds, sleep, nappies, solids, pumping and medication logs without a connection. Wobble writes manual logs on your iPhone first and queues pending changes to sync when the connection returns.

Offline does not mean device-only. Wobble uses its database to keep an account available across devices and to share a baby profile with another authorised caregiver. Signing in, creating or accepting a caregiver invite, Ask Wobble, Babble and account deletion need a connection.

Four different data flows

Manual logging: local first

When you save an ordinary log, it is written locally so you can carry on through a patchy connection. A pending change is not yet available to another phone and still needs to sync later.

Sync: a server copy

Wobble sends account details, baby profiles and logs to its Supabase-hosted database. Pending changes sync after a connection returns; another authorised device fetches changes when the app next syncs, such as after sign-in, returning to the foreground or a manual refresh. This is not a promise of instant real-time delivery.

Ask Wobble: processed text and recent context

Ask Wobble replaces the selected baby’s exact nickname and recognisable doctor-name patterns before sending a question. That is a limited filter, not a guarantee that every identifying detail will be removed.

The processed question, the baby’s age and feeding method, and a topic-relevant summary of up to 14 days of recent logs are sent through Wobble’s backend to Anthropic’s Claude API. The question and answer are saved in chat history on your iPhone. Wobble’s server usage records retain operational details such as topic, token counts and errors, but not the question or answer text.

Babble: live microphone audio

Babble is optional. During an active voice session, microphone audio is streamed to Google’s Gemini service so it can propose structured logs for you to review. Wobble does not add the selected baby’s nickname to the request, but anything you say can be transmitted, including a name or other identifying detail.

Wobble says it does not store the audio recording or transcript in its database or Babble telemetry. Babble does keep account-linked session telemetry, including duration, proposed and saved log counts, end reason, errors, app version and iOS version. You can decline Babble and log manually instead.

Does Wobble ask for my baby’s real name?

No. The baby profile asks for a nickname. Wobble does not ask whether the nickname is also the baby’s real name, so choose something you are comfortable syncing to its database and showing to caregivers you authorise. A baby profile also includes a date of birth and can include a feeding-method preference.

Are there ads or data sales?

Wobble does not show ads or include advertising SDKs. It does not use Apple’s advertising identifier or cross-app tracking, and its privacy policy promises not to sell personal information.

That does not mean no information leaves the iPhone. Cloud sync is part of the service, and Ask Wobble, Babble and feedback use the providers described in the policy. The relevant promise is narrower and more useful: no advertising profile and no sale of personal information.

What can a partner or caregiver see?

Someone you invite to a baby profile can see that baby’s profile and baby-scoped logs, including entries you created. They can also add logs to the shared record. Pumping and parent-medication records remain scoped to the account that recorded them, and Ask Wobble chat history belongs to the account that asked the question.

Removing a caregiver ends their server access. It cannot erase a copy they exported or recorded while they were authorised. Read how sharing with another caregiver works.

What happens when I export or delete data?

The in-app export covers one selected baby and the log categories currently supported by the exporter. It includes the baby’s nickname and birth date, nursing, bottle, sleep, nappy and solids logs, plus the signed-in user’s pumping logs. It is not a complete account export: medication, feedback, feature telemetry and some other account data are not included. You can email Wobble for a complete access or portability request.

Account deletion is an online action. It removes the authentication account, account-linked Ask Wobble and Babble telemetry, memberships and local Wobble data. A solely owned baby profile and its logs are deleted; if another caregiver still has access, the shared profile and logs remain with them and are no longer linked to the deleted account as author.

The plain-language privacy limit

Wobble is local-first, not local-only. It reduces some common privacy trade-offs by working offline for manual logging, avoiding advertising technology, asking for a nickname and making voice logging optional. It still relies on accounts, cloud sync and third-party providers for parts of the service.

No connected service can promise perfect security. Wobble describes TLS, hosted encryption and access controls, while acknowledging that no system is perfectly secure. Read Wobble’s security statement or review the full privacy policy.
